FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS   ???

Q:    What does BARC take for recycling?

Answer:   We take almost everything. All paper, plastic (1-7), glass, metal, ewaste, clothing, batteries, and light bulbs . Look here for a more extensive list or send us an email at andy@mybarc.org if you are unsure if something can be recycled. We will do our best to recycle it!

Q:    What frequency of pick ups should I have?

Answer:  Most families of 4 or less would need just one pick up per month.  But there are options to move to a bi-weekly pick up if you wish, simply email us at andy@mybarc.org to reschedule or add a pickup.  I would suggest that commercial accounts have us stop in and review your waste needs...It's free!  We can pick up from daily to monthly, or anything inbetween.

Q:    How do I sign up?

Answer:  First review our inventory and pricing by browsing services or products. To start service or order products visit our secure ordering site. You are always welcome to contact us by email or phone 231.360.1231 with any questions or concerns.

Q:    Where do you pick up?

Answer:  We will pick up anywhere in Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Antrim, Leelanau, Benzie and Manistee counties.

Q:    How does BARC Bill for service?

Answer:  We invoice out on the first of each month for that month.  For new service, depending on when your bill is delivered, we may just invoice for the bin on the first month.  Most of the time we pick up what recycling you have free of charge to get you started on the right foot.

Q:    What happens to our recycling after BARC picks it up?

Answer:  We take your recycling up to our plant in Maple City  and further sort it.  Cardboard, plastic, paper, glass and metal are then shipped to brokers here in Michigan where it is sold into the market.  Much of the stuff stays here in Michigan, but some of it makes it way to other states and sometimes other countries for processing.  We guarantee that everything we pick up is recycled to the best of our ability, but we can not recycle contaminated materials, so please clean your plastic/glass/metal!
